I have a book for you baseball fans! Jeff Gillenkirk's among the best baseball novels I have read and I've read a bunch of you. (I enjoyed this book so that I actually an exclamation point slightly used at the end of my first sentence when I swore I'd never do many.) I know that not everyone out there is a sports fan and appeal, but that's baseball-based novels to all readers more than a sports novel. It is also one of the love stories I, read in a while, although in this case it is a story about a father for his only son has love better.
Jason Thibodeaux never really knew his own father, an offshore oil rig workers killed in an European rig explosion was. Long before his sudden death disappeared Jason's father for months at a time, leaving the boys grow up as if he had no father of his own. Jason, however, shared a love of baseball with his itinerant father and he inherited great physical abilities of the man.He decided that he would never neglect his own children the way his father neglected but not him hatte. Was Jason Thibodeaux was expected, that he is a son of his own by the time he would have turned twenty-one.
A star baseball - player at Stanford University and at the edge of a career, Jason has a one - night stand with a Stanford law student you pregnant with his son, Raphael (Rafe) leaves.Jason puts his senior season kept so that he can care for the baby while Vicki law school closes and prepared for the bar only Exam.Dann, when he is ready to return baseball, he, his marriage is over and that Vicki leaves him - and using Rafe with her. Jason and Vicki spend years fighting over her son, disturbing Jason from his baseball career and earn him the reputation among baseball people as "head case" a player best avoided.
Makes you all but Jason's love for his son never varies and with RAFE's best interests in mind, he is possible to see one that him walking away from a multi-year professional baseball contract worth more than $ 40 million, including the hardest choices.RAFE has a father - and Jason is for him to set.
provides a gloomy view of what a family happens when ugly gets divorce because both parents believe that only you can offer your children the best future.Jason and Vicki years brutal fight with each other about their son spend, and of course, nobody will suffer more from their fight than the young, they both claim to lieben.Es only Rafe is on the edge of totally ruin his life which finally admit his parents to yourself that it will take both of you, to save him.
But the best part is the baseball insider view of the game presented as Jason his way through several different major league teams macht.Gillenkirk's game are first class descriptions and place his insights in the war between pitcher and batter the reader into the minds of beiden.besonders segments in Mexico, a country rather than which are pleasing to keep managed to create the substitute family that helps him during his darkest hours Jason sane.
Baseball fans are some forty or so pages of the book are enthusiastic about the past and love history fans will probably feel the same about the books last drei.Verpassen not this one.
