3 Eclipses Harry Potter at Amazon Kindle

Amazon has today its annual post Christmas press release published some of the trends that saw the company in holiday sales.  As Amazon can so many different products in as many geographical areas it sold some interesting stuff here.  This year Amazon sent over 9 million items to 178 countries.

First of all, says Amazon Kindle 3 is the previous best seller, eclipsing the best-selling product in Amazon's history, Harry Potter and the Deathly of Hallows (book 7).  Of course, Amazon shares no figures.  Bloomberg sources before recently reported, the it of projections was familiar with Amazon's sales said, 8 million Kindle probably sold Ereaders this year.

"We are grateful that the millions of customers who have made the best-selling product in the history of Amazon's new Kindle surpassed Harry Potter 7," said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com founder and CEO. "We see that many people who buy Kindle have a LCD tablet." Customers report with your LCD tablets for games, movies, and Web browsing and your Kindle for reading sessions. Reporting, dear Kindle for reading, because it less, weighs battery eliminated fear with his month-long battery life and has the advanced paper-like Pearl e ink display, which reduces eye strain, do not disturb sleep patterns before going to bed and read outside in direct sunlight, an important consideration for holiday work. Kindle's $139 price point is a key factor - it is low enough that people do not have to choose. "

When the iPad in life was called it widely was a "Kindle killer" labeled by the media.  Rather than kill the Kindle and other dedicated Ereaders, I think it is very likely that the iPad helped Kindle to stimulate sales.  Not only a vehicle for Kindle book sales, but it was iPad has introduced a lot of people, read digital.  The digital reading experience is much better on an e-ink screen as on an LCD display, and now that the Kindle much cheaper is (again, thanks to the iPad) many people choose to have both.

Some of the more interesting factoids from the Amazon press release:
